Christian radio station gives back to new community; changes financial model.
Sometimes something too good to be true, can indeed be true. Body of Belief Radio is providing free sponsor ads and devotional space to those who meet the station theological standards. “We still control the airtime, it isn’t a free-for-all”, said station CFO, “it just makes it easier to sell something that is free and getting the slots filled by a variety of speakers” The station has an average daily audience of about 60 to 70 people on weekdays and that swells to about 90 on weekends. They feel that getting interest from local congregants who may tune in to hear their own pastor is more important than money.
“We are getting set to add a donation link to our homepage for those who want to support us.” The donation link is still waiting on hold ups from the State of Ohio on a name for the account, but it will be set for 2 dollar to 20 dollar donations. “It’s one of those ‘buy me a cup of coffee’ links.” He added, “We are prepared to accept monthly losses for as long as possible for the sake of the vision. Beyond that, we lean on God for His ‘yeah’ or ‘nay’ on the project. And we are OK with that, either way”
